When I visited Japan, I was fascinated by the signs and shapes of their classical architecture, that of votive temples but also that of everyday objects.
Curved lines like brushstrokes, inspired by nature, precise and ethereal at the same time. A graphic language that incorporates that of the Japanese writing system.
To design the new UKIYO teak outdoor furniture collection for Tribù, I was inspired by those signs and the sophisticated culture for the detail that I encountered there and that belongs to me.
I worked on the balance between the curved and taut lines and on the visual weight of each element that makes up the pieces in the collection, introducing an unexpected taper for the vertical elements.
